Just Feeling Grateful Today

You are here: Home / Asthma - News / Just Feeling Grateful Today

April 3, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 7 Comments

Today, I’m just feeling grateful.  That’s it.  Grateful for the folks who have influenced my parenting, who taught me how to manage food allergies, those who explained that yes, one day soon we will get my son’s asthma under control, those who had their cars detailed just so they could drive my kids on fields trips without additional risk of allergens and those who are just darn nice people.  Maybe it is spring or the hormones of peri-menopause speaking, but I’m just feeling the years and years of blessings and gratitude brimming over in my cup.

cup of teaI love my tea cups!  Today it’s all about the polka dots!

I was thinking last night of all the people who touch my life in large and small ways.  I tried to make a list, thinking of what fun it would be to make a collage of the folks who really made a difference.  What got me thinking was that an old friend who made a huge difference in my life, who I had lost contact with, found me on Facebook this last Sunday.  I was feeling so happy that I will see them next week–hopefully.  So, when I tried to write the list so I could email everyone to ask for a picture it became out of control!  The list was huge!!!!!

Heart made of buttonsMy sweet nine year old made this heart which is in a frame, donated it to the American Lung Association’s silent auction to raise funds for asthma camp and then I bought it back since I wanted it badly!

As a result, I’m feeling darn lucky for my friends, family and food allergy/asthma community and I just have an overwhelming urge to share that today!  I think many folks don’t have a clue as to how they might have influenced others.  So…

Consider this your big THANK YOU for making a difference in the lives of others!

Be it by providing a safe product for my family to eat or use, by sharing your thoughts and insight, or being there for venting or sharing a great recipe, for being family, friends,  or doctors and friends I only know in Cyberland–I am grateful for you in my world!

Humor me today and say thank you to someone who made a difference to you!

Happy Wednesday!

At this very moment, I am feeling grateful for smart phones! I think I’ve exchanged about 60 text messages with our food allergy lobbyist today!

Fabulous! A great post and reminder that even though we feel thankful we need to shout it from the rooftops so the people in our lives know it too! 🙂
Thankful for you, Caroline! Thank you for all your wonderful posts and knowledge shared.

Had 2 moving co representatives to our home to do pre-move surveys and bids. Both men were very receptive to our food allergy needs (packers/movers must wash up when they arrive AND we’ll supply all their food — of course, we’ll work with their allergies and other dietary needs to keep ALL safe and healthy). Nobody looked at me like I had 3 horns and 4 noses . . . and one shared that his own young child also was nut allergic . . . and BOY could we share some stories. So much has changed so far as education and understanding in the general population since our family first began to deal with LTFA (life-threatening food allergy) 14+ years ago. So, two thumbs up for those guys!!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
