Will Ferrell Almost Kills Zach Galfianakis with Nut?

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Will Ferrell Almost Kills Zach Galfianakis with Nut?

August 2, 2012 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 6 Comments

Star Pulse reported that Will Ferrell Nearly Killed Campaign co-Star Zach Galfianakis with Nut Prank while on the set of the movie Campaign.  Apparently, Zach is allergic to walnuts and as a joke Will had walnut placed in his food?!?  It wasn’t so funny and thankfully EMTs were on site and all ended well.

I am a huge Will Ferrell fan and it is clear to me that he lacked valid information about food allergies. Killing a colleague is usually low on one’s list of things to do that day.
Even more interesting was that catering personnel assisted Will and also lacked knowledge.  Clearly, the food industry nationwide is addressing how to manage customers with food allergies, but I wonder about how we can reach private catering businesses?  The National Restaurant Association offers many educational resources including this slide show entitled, Food Allergies are Nothing to Sneeze At.

I’m glad Zach is okay and I am sure Will has been fully educated now regarding pranks with food allergens.

apparently, Ferrell made the comment about the nut prank while touting his new show on a media tour. i agree that this sets a dangerous & bad precedent -especially after the incidents in schools during the last school year. can FAAN & AAPE meet with Ferrell and/or his reps? having a PSA or viral video about the dangers of this type of prank might help resolve any damage that has taken place.

He was supposedly joking, and it didn’t really happen. People who saw the Jon Stewart interview are saying no one who watched it would think he was serious. Still in very poor taste to joke about though, and gives other idiots stupid ideas.

Wow, so even if it was a joke, news agencies picked it up as reality?? What a crazy world. Nevertheless, education still remains king.
