Valentine's Day: Myths and Facts

You are here: Home / EPI / Valentine's Day: Myths and Facts

Pop Quiz:  The average adult spends more than $100 on Valentine’s Day–Myth or Fact?  Being curious and having some fun, the makers of EpiPen® did some research on the trends of Valentine’s Day and discovered some fun facts and myths.  So, how about this one:  You can experience a life threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) from a kiss–myth or fact?  Check out the Valentine’s Day Pop Quiz Infographic created by Mylan® for the answer!  I’m sharing this Valentine’s Day Pop Quiz Infographic with teachers and friends since it’s fun but also a serious food allergy and anaphylaxis awareness piece.  I personally like any and all opportunities to educate others.

I just love all holidays and the opportunity to celebrate pretty much everything.  Unfortunately, when food allergies came into my life, there was a short term dark cloud that hovered over my head until I embraced food allergies, Valentine’s Day and interesting solutions.  Now, I get my creativity on!  For school, I generally like to make non-food items if possible.  Even though I thoroughly understand, dairy, nut, egg and seed allergies.  I’m not a gluten free whiz and almost panic if I need to avoid soy.  So, bringing in something fun for the kids is a much better choice for me.

I still haven’t decided what to create this Valentine’s Day, so if you have any good ideas, please share in the comments below!
