True Confessions of a Corn Dog Obsession

You are here: Home / Uncategorized / True Confessions of a Corn Dog Obsession

June 19, 2012 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 5 Comments

It’s silly, it’s goofy and I wait 365 days for it:  a corn dog at the Reno Rodeo!   This is a guilty pleasure I enjoy each year with a lovely group of moms escaping dinner and motherly tasks for team roping, corn dogs and cotton candy that does not have to be shared.  My goal: to enjoy a night out, eat two corn dogs then complain about why did I eat two corn dogs.

Most of all, my goal is to simply take off my epinephrine inhaler carrying responsible Mom hat and just enjoy the moment without scanning for peanuts, tree nuts or sesame seeds.

Every now and then it is fun to sneak out and eat all the foods that are not “safe” for my kids.  I usually don’t eat nuts or seeds in case I smother my kids with kisses when I get home, but a corn dog is fair game.  I just started Weight Watchers online, so I really will be pushing the envelope with two corn dogs, so I’ll skip the wine and cotton candy this year.  Hum, now that I write that it doesn’t sound as good as it tasted last year.  If have never been, it might be worth a try!  I still can’t figure out why we love bull riding so much.  Think of it:  a grown man trying to ride a bull…and the point of that is…?

Do you have some fun little guilty pleasure that you enjoy when you take off that 24/7 food allergy and asthma Mom responsibility hat?

I went to Punta Cana with all of my girlfriends (12 of us!) to celebrate our 40th birthdays. They had the most delicious homemade, thick white bread that I toasted and slathered with peanut butter. I ate that for breakfast every morning. I hadn’t had peanut butter in 7 years before that, and I haven’t had it in the three years since. I was so far away from my son, yet I still washed my hands, brushed my teeth like crazy and felt guilty! But peanut butter had never tasted so good…

How fantastic Kim! Isn’t it amazing how something so simple can be so divine? Of course, you’ve set a precedent now and will need to do something equally as fabulous for your 50th!

First of all I would like to say awesome blog!
I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I’ve had
difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I truly
do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to
begin. Any suggestions or tips? Thank you!
