Nominate A Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis STAR!

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Nominate A Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis STAR!

May 3, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 7 Comments

Being a lover of gratitude, this is just inspires me:   Do you know a family member, friend, teacher, business, support group, or organization that has made a difference in the life of a person with food allergy & anaphylaxis?   Nominate them for an National Allergy and Anaphylaxis Council (NAAC)  Star Award!  In honor of Allergy and Asthma Awareness month and Food Allergy Awareness Week (May 12-18), nominations are being excepted until May 30th and will  be recognize on NAAC’s Facebook page!

Accepting Nominations May 1, 2013 through May 30, 2013. Nominations can be made online through NAAC’s website .

Disclaimer:  I am a NAAC volunteer and am 100% biased.  Our press release shared, “The NAAC recognizes that acts of kindness, both big and small, can make a world of difference in the lives of those affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis. We think these acts deserve recognition. This includes anything from reading a label, reminding someone to carry their epinephrine, or taking extra steps to include someone with food allergies and anaphylaxis. We would like to acknowledge these extraordinary people by giving them our NAAC Star Award.
I simply adore that all acts, small or large are valued and will be honored.  Even though an act may seem small, such as giving out party favors that do not include candy or inviting co-workers to a food allergy “safe restaurant”, these all register as large in my book.  Here is my challenge, I would want to invite hundreds of people!  Actually, this morning I truly want to nominate all the food allergy families in Las Vegas who are rallying to help my son go to Las Vegas on his first mulit-overnight trip with his school.  How do you nominate a community I wonder?

“The NAAC feels it is important to acknowledge the actions of people that positively impact the daily lives of those affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis. This award allows us to celebrate their efforts,” says NAAC Director, Gina Mennett Lee.
About the National Allergy & Anaphylaxis Council
We are a collective voice of leading advocates and professionals from across the nation. We raise awareness regarding food allergies and anaphylaxis and advocate for the fair treatment, inclusion, and safety of those diagnosed with this hidden disability.

Nominate a Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Star, someone whose random act of food allergy and anaphylaxis kindness deserves to be shouted out with an NAAC star award!

This sounds like a great idea! I’m glad they are giving people a public way to say thank you. Very cool.

I love that they are giving us the chance to thank those that have helped those with food allergies. Now, I just have to think of someone to nominate!

I think this is soooo incredibly important to recognize how people try hard and to let them know we appreciate it!
I’m having trouble narrowing it down!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
