Feeling good: I won a Liebster Blog Award!

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Feeling good: I won a Liebster Blog Award!

April 18, 2012 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 4 Comments

I’m feeling rather special, even though I’m sniffling through my week with a cold and hay fever (all I have to say is God bless the creator of Kleenex tissues with lotion).  I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Blog Award.  This award is about community, mystery and love (I feel so peace, love and Berkeley, CA–I grew up living next to Berkeley you know)!  I feel quite honored to say the least.
Liebster blog award
Liebster is the German word for GOOD FRIEND.  The purpose of the award to provide a path for us to create community between those who share information via blogs and the internet.  The mystery is that no one seems to know who started this award or where it started?  The love is simply spreading good words and kindness to other bloggers.

Once you receive the award, there are a few rules of engagement that are nicely positive and fun:

First, the rules.
To accept this award you must:

  1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
  2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
  3. Copy and Paste the Award to your blog.
  4. Have faith that your followers will spread the word and love to other bloggers.
  5. Have fun.

Okay,  below is my love for Advocate by Fate, which is easy since her blogs and knowledge on disabilities is impressive.  I really was taken by her We have Come Too Far to Forget, Separate Is Not Equal blog (read it if you get a chance). Advocate by Fate nominated me and I would be sent to you know where if I didn’t share about  the Advocate’s author.   This wonderful blog is written by Thanita Glancey, food allergy advocate extraordinaire (I’m not kidding here and I’ll explain why soon), mom, community leader and blogger.  Have you ever met someone who you thought, “when does she sleep and why does her hair always look so good?”  This is Thanita.  She most recently won a 16th Annual Mariel C. Furlong Awards for Making a Difference -community service-support groups, which is a national award and a HUGE deal in our food allergy community.  She leads the Loudoun Allergy Network in VA, but I highly suggest checking out their website too–they offer lots of great information.  She is the reigning 504 Plan queen!  If you have any questions on that topic, she is the expert in our food allergy community, hands down!  Thank you Live Free Foods Blog!

My Top 5 Food Allergy Blog Picks are (this was tough since there are soooo many wonderful sites out there):

[ordered_list style=”decimal”]
  1. The Art of Dessert-a stay at home of two food allergic children turned professional baker, turned food allergy savvy baker who creates desserts that bring tears to my eyes!  I’m serious, check out her  Chocolate Wasted Cake.
  2. Live Free Foods Blog– this blog is offered on the Live Free Foods site and I enjoy that Nori, the site’s owner offers recipes that incorporate their products.  How many times have I seen a product and then sat there scratching my head about how to use it with a creative splash or to maximize my new found safe food item.
  3. One Spot Allergy Blog – has been a favorite for a long time.  I enjoy how Elizabeth blogs about current issues, products and sales.  She is very current and her thoughts and suggestions are very thoughtful and valuable.
  4. Allergy Moms Blog–is a blog that I have read for quite some time as well.  Gina truly tackles the tough interviews and heart wrenching topics that we all must hear and learn from.  I admire her ability to keep her heart and head merged together as she makes a difference in our food allergy community.
  5. Allergic Child Blog–Nicole offers a fabulous website full of information in addition to her blogs.  Which are truly fascinating.  I still can’t figure out how she discovered the girl who uses a robot to attend her classes due to her dairy inhalant allergy?!
[/ordered_list]

Thanks again Thanita for thinking of me and for helping us all continue to develop an online community of food allergy information and support!
