Live, Love, Laugh… a very heart breaking story

You are here: Home / Allergy Deaths / Live, Love, Laugh… a very heart breaking story

May 17, 2011 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 2 Comments

I was going to write about my day at the Nevada State Legislature today.
Then one of those little doses of reality and life lessons comes walking by.
On my facebook page this heart breaking story popped up from Theresa Marie Green from my favorite food allergy apparel and “stuff” website Food Allergy Apparel.
I stopped writing to read a tragic story about a little girl named Emily who had a fatal food allergy reaction five years ago.  She would have been 19 years old and her favorite saying was, Live, Love, Laugh.
My favorite saying.
The one that I’ve been trying to somehow incorporate it into my blog’s design using a rock sculpture my son created for me–yup, that one.
Her mother’s courage to write about what happened that fatal day is a true display of her love for all of our children–the ones she wants to save from the mistakes that took her daughter away.
The lesson: be prepared and work with your physician…allergic reactions are unpredictable, so prepare for the worse case scenario.
The story is provided by the Allergy Kids Foundation website.
Have your tissue box handy before you click on Emily’s story.

Caroline, thanks for sharing Emily’s story. WOW. Having no exposure to allergic reactions to read a story like Emily’s, I was shocked. Had no idea. You just don’t realize the impact until it’s to late. I really learned (beginning to comprehend) something today. Again, thanks for sharing. Live, love, laugh, my dear friend…I will be more attentive. rite

I am just so impressed with the courage of Emily’s family. To have made those choices and then turn around and try to make sure no one else goes down that path is simply humbling!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
