Label your Sunbutter or WowButter Sandwiches?

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Label your Sunbutter or WowButter Sandwiches?

September 19, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 6 Comments

After I typed this headline, I giggled!  Boy, food allergy parents live a very different and most colorful life!  I just discovered today that my WowButter® jar contains 16 little identifying labels that state, “Made with WowButter® 100% peanut free nut free”.  If you are not familiar, wow butter is a soynut butter based product.  I don’t when this happened and if I am the last person in the nation to discover this–but wahoo!  Nice touch dear WowButter® folks.  Suddenly, I remembered that Sunbutter® had offered downloadable labels that I use on my daughter’s lunch box, so I when I visited this site today, I was equally surprised when I realize they had revised Peanut-Free Lunch ID Downloadable stickers!

Avoiding Confusion.  I always mark my kid’s sandwiches by either using the downloadable Sunbutter® labels or using a Sharpie® on the reusable container.  I don’t want to confuse others into thinking my kids have outgrown their nut allergies.  My fear another student will believe my child can eat a nut butter since both the Sunbutter® and WowButter® that we use look exactly like Peanut butter.  I also don’t want nut allergics classmates worrying-thinking they are in danger.  The Sunbutter label can be downloaded as PDF and directly on to 2″x4″ labels or you can download a jpg and create larger labels with two different sayings on each label.  Although, I still can’t believe I missed those labels on the WowButter® jar.  I am so focused on ingredient label reading I completely missed these little gems!

Wowbutter NUT FREE labelHiding under the label were Peanut Free and Nut Free Food Labels!  Who knew?

Happy Peanut free and Tree Nut free sandwich labeling! So do you label your sandwiches too?

p.s.  Sunbutter® nor WowButter® paid me to say nice things about their labels.  I just thinking they are fun solutions and wanted to share.

We love WOWbutter (over sunbutter) and love the fact that they have the stickers. They used to just have 1 sticker that you had to cut out of the label and reuse it. So this is so much better!

Amy, This was very cool. I can’t believe how hyper focused I was! It was very fun to find those stickers underneath the label!

      Kathryn,
Free is a great word, especially when it is included with the other words, “nut free labels”. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for sharing.

    Hi Caroline,
Of course I just must comment. Thanks for the mention of our ‘lil labels. And hats off to the WOWButter team for the labels. Most of all, appreciate you continuing to spread the word on tools that will help others with food allergies. I had lunch with our daughter at school yesterday, and saw lots of sharpie-labeled items at the nut-free table. Communication is key, as you well know! Take care, I so enjoy following your blog.
Pssst: I notice you helped plan the upcoming Food Allergy Bloggers Conference. Will you be there?

I will be there! I’m heading to the Food Allergy Walk Sat am and then I get to speak at the Food Allergy Bloggers Conference too! I’m blogging about it on Monday. I helped a very small tad and but had too much going on with Nevada’s stock epinephrine bill to dive in with Jenny and Homa. I’m sooooo thrilled to attend! Thanks again for the fabulous labels. I LOVE those to no end! They were made for my Tupperware containers I swear
