Just Be

You are here: Home / Current Blog Post / Just Be

June 7, 2016 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 4 Comments

Time to Just BE memeI’ve been off line quite a bit over the last week and coming ahead over the next couple of weeks. I heeded the wise words from Colette Martin, Author of Learning to Bake Allergy Free and The Allergy Free Pantry: put down the camera and enjoy the moment. We were enjoying an online conversation regarding my son’s high school graduation. What she was really telling me was to just be. Her words resonated beyond high school graduation. They were words of a life lesson swooping in to wake me up to being mindful and staying present. Big and wonderful things are taking place in my life and she was nudging me to not miss the beauty.
I like to blog as the world unfolds, so visiting my computer often is fun and my habit. BUT, I have to say that I am forever grateful that I don’t have a bunch of stunning photos from Cyrus’ graduation, but I have each moment engraved in my heart.
From his slip up of heading to the podium to speak when it wasn’t his turn and his funny recovery, to when he introduced two of his most favorite and influential teachers. I was proud when the teacher’s roasted Cyrus and then thanked and encouraged him to keep educating others regarding life threatening food allergies. I jus soaked it all up.
Now, I’m soaking up family time. We will celebrate with family and friends soon and I’ll be enjoying company, good food and big laughs. My son has certainly changed over the last few days as he absorbs this really happened-he is ready to 100% manage his diseases while heading off a great college. He is also amazed he made to this point. From our food allergy view point, it has been a long haul since we started this journey fifteen years ago when anaphylaxis was a word that most of us never heard of.
Thank you Colette Martin for reminding me to just be.

Cyrus has been so adorable. I think he is in full throttle processing of leaving the nest. I give him about 2 more weeks then the uber sweetness will slow down!

      Thanks Heddi,
Sorry for the delayed response, this comment slipped right by me. We are very excited to say the least! I thought of you the other day as I was reading my son’s soon to be college publication and an alumni did his graduate work at the Hotel Ecole in Lausanne! My heart skipped a beat and I was missing my wonderful summer there. Hope your family is doing well too.

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
