This year I officially added myself to the fan club list of Allergic Girl, but this video has simply sealed the deal! Okay, when was the last time you heard anyone sing about palm shortening? Not only was the video a kick, but the recipe was real, dairy, Gluten, egg and nut free and it looked very tasty. Allergic Girl, Sloane Miller, and Rebecca Vigil, from the Cooking Show teamed up to host this fun, short and practical piece. I’m on my way to Whole Foods to buy more shortening…

In case you don’t know Sloane Miller, I met her face to face last January and am fully enamored. She authored, “Allergic Girl, Adventures in Living Well With Food Allergies,” and she coaches people through life with food allergies. Actually, check out my blog post, “Food Allergy Guru Shines”, to learn more about her. What impressed me about Sloane was her one statement, “I don’t apologize for having food allergies”. How many times have we apologized in the past for our children’s food allergies being inconvenient? I know I would feel odd if someone apologized to me for their diabetes, or being wheel chair bound. I work hard to teach my children to love and accept their community unconditionally, yet I’m guilty of not acting that way when it came to food allergies. Her words resonated with me. Her pal, Rebecca does fantastic job as hostess of the show and I love Sloane’s emphasis on the Tahitian Vanilla, I echo those sentiments completely!

Kelly, AAPE is trying to set up a Skype conversation with Sloane this summer. Does that interest you? She really had a great approach and can discuss kissing, puberty, etc. too. She coaches clients through all sorts of situations. Quite fascinating!

That was hilarious!!

Marla,
The singing is what topped it off for me! Could this be the world’s first allergy cooking song?
