Gluten Free and Allergen Free Jelly Bean Yum!

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Gluten Free and Allergen Free Jelly Bean Yum!

November 14, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 5 Comments

Lucky me received two bags of Gimbal’s Fine Candies Harvest Mix this week.  I had never heard of this variety and couldn’t wait to rip open the bag and fill up my candy dish.  In celebration of  National Gluten Free Awareness Month, the folks at Gimbal’s Fine Candies sent the Harvest mix to try out.  Special note: my opinions are still very opinionated and are my own, I was not paid to try these out or even say something nice (or not so nice) about them.  I just wanted to share some of the fun goodies I come across.  What Gimbal’s doesn’t know is that I’m a Gimbal’s jelly bean freak and confess to having purchased an entire case of their jelly beans about six years ago!  Another food allergy mama and I went crazy for the holidays and it was all about the Gimbal’s jelly beans and homemade chocolate pops.  The good news today is that this Harvest mix is a winner too.

My friend gave me this sweet little candy dish that beyond to her mother before she passed away from Lung Cancer.  I keep it at my desk and fill it with things that make my Weight Watcher Points go up, up, up.  I’m backing away from Gluten since it makes my ankles puff up along with my face and let’s face it, no one likes the puff.  The Harvest mix was fun!  It included these darling flavors..

My favorite is tied between Harvest Spice and Pumpkin Pie.  I’m thinking about trying to see what happens when you mix Vegan cookie dough and Harvest spice jelly together. Gimbal’s products are free of the eight major allergens and I can find the pound size bag locally, but the Harvest Spice needs to be ordered online.  I just realized that if you order over $39 from Gimbal’s online store, the shipping is free!  You know how much I love free shipping.  My kids liked the mix, but they did not love the Harvest Spice or Pumpkin flavors-which works out great for me!

I just found your website. I have a son that is sensitive/allergic to corn. Do you have any products that are corn free? I know that I saw on one that there was no High Fructose Corn Syrup. However, I know from experience that that does not necessarily mean that it means that it is free from corn.
    Thanks!

      Hi Rebbecca,
I don’t sell these products, but Yummy Earth has healthlier choices and Don’t Go Nuts too! I think I’m missing someone else too…let me think some more.

Note about Rebecca’s question – these are not corn free! They contain regular corn syrup, modified food starch, and dextrose. They also list natural flavors and confectioners glaze, which may or may not contain corn. I also have a child w/ corn sensitivity. I’m thinking no jellybeans this Easter. 🙁

I can’t remember and I am not at my computer, but does Surf Sweets have jelly beans? Also, check out A Real Treat Candy Boutique. The owner tries really hard to offer items to meet a wide variety of needs.
I believe a corn allergy is one of the hardest! It is in everything!
Thank you for joining the conversation!
