In exactly 40 days from now I plan on being surrounded by men (Henry of Allergies Asthma Children-that’s a shout out to you!) and women that inspired, motivate and make me laugh so hard my stomach will hurt. I will feel hopeful. I will finally get to hug people I’ve only emailed, messaged and tweeted. I will have more information that I had planned on under my belt and I will be racing to my computer to blog away on all this fabulous new and vetted information! In 40 days I will be attending the first Annual Food Allergy Bloggers Conference, on November 2nd in Las Vegas, NV! Join me? This conference is FOR EVERYONE! If you blog, there is a track with more technical stuff, you have food allergies, or care for someone who does, then there is a track for you too! Visit Food Allergy Blogger’s Website to register, review each day’s agenda and read about the Speakers.
Almost everyone in this photo will be speaking, signing and attending the Food Allergy Blogger Conference! Familiar faces?
The Food Allergy Blogger Conference will be kicked off on Saturday morning with one of my favorites: the Las Vegas Food Allergy Walk (please feel free to join my team or donate). I attended my first Vegas Food Allergy Walk last year and will be hosting my very own Gratefulfoodie booth at the Walk this year! It was sooooo much fun last year and it’s going to be even more exciting this year since so many new people are attending the walk from across the country. The Food Allergy Blogger Conference begins Saturday night with a meet and greet, including vendors, and ends on Monday.
Jenny, the morning her dream was born, at the Mylan Blogger Summit
I recently spoke with Jenny Sprague, one of the two co-founders and she shared this…
Our collective virtual food allergy community will be coming together in the same place under one roof! Can you image what that will feel like? The conference is for Everyone!
Here are the three top reasons of why I am participating and believe this event is worthy:
[unordered_list style=”star”]
- Many of the Speakers are folks who I have followed for years! The idea of being in the same room with all our cogs turning at the same time is simply mind boggling. There will be authors, food allergy experts and authorities including women with life experience presenting. Some of my most favorite and admired food allergy types will be there–I can’t ask for anything or anyone more really.
- After I attended my first Mylan Bloggers Summit I was elated. The inspiration was breathtaking. Being surrounded by people who understand your journey–without judgement– is something I still can’t figure out how to describe. I felt hopeful for the first time ever. After each Mylan Summit I feel hopeful when I realize that there is a nation working on finding day-to-day solutions, long term answers and a cure. I can’t image the feeling I will have after this conference!
- Chef Keith Norman, executive chef at the Southpoint Casino and Spa will be dishing up the food allergy safe and fabulous food. The Southpoint Casino and Spa truly brings it when it comes to food allergy safety and the culinary arts. What more can I say? I’m a hard core foodie and can’t wait to be dazzled by Chef Keith!
- BONUS Reason: The Wine and Sign event will feature 18 food allergy authors! Cybele Pascal, Kelly Rudniki and Collette Martin to name a few–including my beloved Sue Ganz-Schmitt-author of the Princess and Peanut!!
What truly warms my heart though is Jenny Sprague-author of Mulitple Food Allergy Help and Homa Woodrum-author of Oh Mah Deehness, who have committed countless hours creating this event to benefit our food allergy community. Both are very busy woman, writing their own blogs, raising food allergic children amongst other health challenges and Homa is a practicing lawyer who was also involved in our Nevada Legislative efforts to secure stock epinephrine in our schools. They are sleeping less these days to create this event just for us. See the little table in the photo above? After the first Mylan Blogging Summit, Jenny and I sat at that table to eat dinner and drink a glass of Malbec. It was at table that Jenny shared her dream of a conference that would reach out to everyone. I can’t drink a glass Malbec without thinking of Jenny and her dream.
This Homa…she is a runner, lawyer, mom, cook and quite witty!
On November 2, 2013 I will raise my glass of Malbec in honor of Jenny and Homa’s hard work in creating the first Food Allergy Bloggers Conference!

Hi Amy,
Are you going to the wine and sign? I’m making something small, but special for everyone at the wine and sign. I feel like this is a family reunion!
