Game on! What is more powerful that a mother on mission to keep her children alive? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. What empowers this tireless beast? Knowledge.
You know the kind; Enough knowledge to back up that don’t-mess-with-mama spirit that is on a mission to see stock epinephrine in every school in the great State of Nevada. The beauty of the passionate mom is that when she hears the word NO, she answers with a grin, “for now”.
I attended the Nevada Advocacy Forum, thanks to kind the folks at the American Lung Association (clearly I am biased as past board chair-so let’s get that one out of the way), American Heart Association, Cancer Action Network, Pfizer and Glaxosmithkline, . The focus of the forum was to educate local non-profits regarding how to advocate and lobby for a cause or issue. There were all sorts of interesting people attending ranging from health district types, cancer folks, Senate and House representatives to a preschool that created a non-profit to support early education causes!
The first step for me in securing stock epinephrine in schools is to understand advocacy and even more important…to get fired up with passion!
Truly, is there anything fiercer on the planet than a mother or father advocating for policy that will save the lives of children-their own and the community? NO. Therefore, my first step in seeing stock epinephrine in schools is to inspire and motivate myself with so much passion that it oozes out! This is incredibly easy to do since I feel it all the way to my bones that this is what we need to keep our kids safe at school.
