I am sharing this special request from my beloved American Lung Association! The email below is from our Harold Wimmer, the American Lung Association National President, CEO and just an inspiring kind of guy. I really like him, his vision and leadership, so I had no choice but to share this request with you about lung cancer. Unfortunately, I have a story to share too and I will be participating. Lola, a beautiful woman, who was like a second mother to me passed away when I was in my 20’s from lung cancer. I was out of the country at the time and am still bitter to this day that I was not at her funeral. I had thought, up until recently, that only smokers or those living with smokers died of lung cancer. Goodness, was I ever wrong! Please pause for a moment and read Harold’s request and share it with others. As we are seeing first hand, our advances in keeping children with life threatening allergies safer at school through our work on stock epinephrine regulation and law–do make a difference.
This is Harold Wimmer’s serious headshot look-it doesn’t reflect his warm inspiring side!

From Harold…
Speaking up about lung cancer has a ripple effect.
Let’s start the wave.
In preparation for Lung Cancer Awareness Month, coming up in November, we’d like to honor those who have been touched by lung cancer. To do this, we invite you to share your lung cancer story.
Why is it important to share your lung cancer story?
When you share your story, you give others permission to do the same. By talking about your lung cancer experience, you help build awareness and reduce stigma around the disease, and provide a sense of reassurance and inspiration to others facing lung cancer.
If you are a patient, family member, caregiver, friend or anyone touched by lung cancer, please share your story.
Then in November, for Lung Cancer Awareness month, your story will be made available for others to read on our website, Facing Lung Cancer: Support from Day One.
Share Your Lung Cancer Story
Help give a voice to the lung cancer community. Share your story today.
Sincerely,
Harold Wimmer,
National President and CEO
American Lung Association

I know from those we have known and lost from lung cancer, that smoking is not always the cause. Thank you for sharing. I have flagged my email notification so that I can come back soon and read more.
