Wow 'em: Creamy Ranch Dressing

You are here: Home / Current Blog Post / Wow 'em: Creamy Ranch Dressing

Gratefulfoodie creamy vegan ranch dressingI want to see a Top Chef Allergen Savvy cook out! Why? Since there is such culinary wizardry brewing in food allergy hip kitchens that needs to bust out into mainstream America. I lost this peanut-tree-nut-dairy-egg-free recipe, Vegan Ranch Style Dressing,  and found it two nights ago after a furious search in my pantry and closet. A dear friend, Nancy Doane, shared it with me when my son was diagnosed with his original long list of allergens 15 years ago, few tweaks later and here sits a creamy luscious dressing.

Recipe: Creamy Vegan Ranch Style Dressing

The key here is high quality and tasty vegan mayo. I took this recipe out for a spin using Hampton Creek’s Just Mayo Original flavor non-dairy egg free spread. After I read about them in an article, I called them up curious about allergens. There are allergens in their facility and they test their equipment for cross contact. NOTE:  As always, if you are interested in a product, pick up the phone and give the manufacturer a call to discuss if their product is safe for your family.  Gluten-free friends–Just May is gluten-free.
gratefulfoodie Just Mayo bottleHampton Creek ever so kindly sent me a few samples to test drive in my kitchen. I have to say, they just gave my old favorite vegan Mayo a big run for their money. What struck me most, was the creamy, soft and smooth texture of the Just Mayo. There are three more fabulous flavors for me to play with this winter break.  Unfortunately, I can’t keep them stocked in my fridge! My family keeps eating them, so I keep putting off my recipe testing. Thankfully, my local grocery store carries Just Mayo at a very affordable price, so I just loaded up my fridge again.
My son is no longer allergic to egg, but hands down, vegan mayo more flavorful and a family favorite. I can’t wait to make a cake next! Stay tuned for that recipe!
Here’s to eating salad on Christmas Eve!!  We’re enjoying a soup/stew/chili and salad bar with friends to kick off the Christmas cheer.
