It’s been a long two weeks of high energy, grief and sadness in our food allergy world.  For those of us who manage asthma, the cold weather and holiday asthma triggers are in full force and so many of us are under the weather.  So, I thought it’s time for a quick little boost of things that make you and me happy!  What makes YOU smile?  Add a comment below!  What things are instant happy makers for you? Here is the start of my list of what makes me Happy…

Things that make me HAPPY!

  • hugging my kids before school
  • nutfree chocolate chips (Pascha, Enjoy Life, Divvies-any chocolate from Divvies)
  • snuggling with my hubby while we flip through magazines
  • Divvies Benjamin Crunch bars
  • baking with those nut free chocolate chips
  • tucking in my son and not caring that is 16 years old
  • listening all about my daughter’s day and being grateful I’m not a tween
  • People who GET IT
  • allergen savvy and trained restaurants
  • my french press coffee mug filled with rich dark coffee
  • the cool folks at the Reno Collective, co-work space, who inspire me to push out of my comfort zone
  • baking anything sweet, nut free and dairy free!
  • French and Spanish wines (my current fav’s but I always love my CA wines)
  • friends who indulge my need for the Coach outlet

It makes me happy to see how much my daughter marvels at the Christmas lights on the houses around the neighborhood. She says, “THEY-ARE-SO-BEAUTIFUL!” with an irrepressible joy that I find inspiring. 🙂

Oh, lots of things make me happy. 🙂 Seeing all the Christmas lights and decor and even listening to Christmas music make me happy this time of year. Year-round, my kids, my family, my church, my friends (“real world” and online), quiet moments, snuggles with my cat and/or kiddos…so many things. My favorite is when I have an honest-to-goodness amazing connective moment with someone, though, especially my kiddos and hubby. Nothing better than that. 🙂

      Julie,
Those connections are like magic and they are something that can’t be bought, baked or eaten. I saw several Christmas lights last night and I just don’t know why or how they are so perfect. But, they just are!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
