So, this is waaay off topic today, but it is has been a super hectic and bizarre week with many opportunities and challenges popping up–all at the same time. And I have the funniest little story to share! My phone rang off the hook yesterday and I couldn’t keep up with answering the calls. During a lovely date lunch, I announced to my husband that I had stopped answering my phone for the day. Then, my direction for the rest of day come from my fortune cookie! Yes, I’m now taking life lessons from a cookie.
The cookie warned me of a friend and in need to answer the call.
Upon returning home, I decided that I just needed to lay down for about 20 minutes before I tackled the rest of the day. I spread out my blanket, propped up a nice fluffy pillow, set my alarm for 20 minutes and stretched out on my bed. My phone immediately rang and I thought, “the cookie said to pick it up, I had better pick it up…” Sure enough, my friend on the other end of the line was racing to hospital due to a health crisis!
The cookie had spoken!
Thankfully, I had answered the call was able offer to support during a horrible time. My friend’s story ending well, but nevertheless, I am now somewhere between being scared of fortune cookies and wanting to go buy more.
Happy Friday! May we all enjoy a Food Allergy and Asthma safe, healthy and happy weekend.
p.s. My husband immediately grabbed the fortune and plans on buying lottery tickets from the numbers on the back!

One of the hardest things I find about managing both life threatening food allergies and asthma is talking to others. I hate to be the one that might be perceived as demanding, pushing or for asking too much. What I now know, fourteen years later, is that honest, clear information presented with kindness works!..
