Every Thanksgiving I equip my kitchen with certain food allergy safe staples. Even if we are traveling or eating with good friends at their home, I end up either using these items my self or sending them ahead of time for allergen safe food allergy holiday cooking. My go to staples are: Earth Balance Buttery Spread, Tofutti Sour Cream and Wheat Thins. All of these items are dairy free, nut free, sesame seed and egg free! FYI–always check the label to insure there have been no ingredient or manufacturing changes, thus leaving the product unsafe for your food allergy needs.
I use the Earth Balance Buttery Spread in everything from basting the turkey, making stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and even dessert. I use the cream cheese to serve with appetizers or to mix in with mashed or baked potatoes. We smear a drop of the Wild Tree Dill Dip Mix on a Wheat Thins and then add a slice green olive on top! Or, my recent favorite is instead of an olive, add a 1/2 teaspoon of your favorite food allergen safe jalapeno jelly!
The Tofutti Non-hydrogenated Sour Cream is our favorite dip base! We either mix in Wild Tree Dill Dip Mix or use our homemade Ranch Dip Mix Recipe…this recipe is pure food allergy, Vegan gold. A dear Vegan Friend shared this years ago and it is popular no matter where we bring it…the bowl ends up empty quickly.
