Stop In The Name of Food Allergy Surveys!

You are here: Home / Advocacy / Stop In The Name of Food Allergy Surveys!

April 15, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 19 Comments

Today I’m asking you to respond to  a special request from my son–we would greatly appreciate your support!!!  His goal is to create tools that will improve the lives of those with life threatening food allergies.
“Hi, I’m Cyrus and I’m asking you for a short amount of time to take a survey and if you can reach out to your personal network of friends and to share these surveys. I am a high school sophomore and I have designed my own long term community learning service project.  I created a few surveys that target different food allergy related demographic groups.  I would appreciate it if you would complete the short surveys that are applicable to you.  Please share my surveys with everyone:  friends, family, teachers and especially co-workers”.

Three Short Surveys (please choose to answer the survey(s) that best applies to you or your situation).

  • Parent with Food Allergic Children
  • Adult with Food Allergy
  • Common Everyday on Food Allergy Knowledge (for people without food allergies)

His project is one that he is launching soon, during high school, and carrying it out through college, and into adulthood.  Even though he raises funds for our local food bank and the American Lung Association, having multiple life threatening food allergies are his daily focus and challenge.  His goal is to help make the world safer for people managing life threatening food allergies.

In the spirit of independence, I’ve have been hands off regarding this project and he has created a strong advisory board.  This is tough for someone like me!  So, I’m thrilled to at least have the opportunity to help him ask for folks to answer his surveys.

We sincerely thank you for time and for spreading the word about the surveys!

    Yay Cyrus!
I would say I am more informed than the average “no food allergy” person…. but from taking the survey I see I am lacking knowledge! Good luck with your project!
Mrs. J. Hi from all of us!

      Hi Mrs. J,
I’m glad that you have increased your knowledge of dis-knowledge. For more information check back with an allergist, i.e., Dr. Jacobs. Miss you, hope all is well down there-Cyrus

Just took the Common Everyday on Food Allergy Knowledge (for people without food allergies) survey because that’s the boat I’m in right now. Since I don’t have any allergies, just sensitivities, and since my own children do not have any food allergies (to my knowledge), I figure that survey was the only one I could truthfully take, even though I was diagnosed with having food allergies in the past that I no longer have. Anyway, happy to help, and hope that the information is helpful! Best of luck to you, Cyrus!

Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is just one of the more common digestive allergic conditions (EGIDs Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders – not intolerances-) that too many people don’t understand. If ANA people are not taken seriously or misunderstood, EGID kids and adults also understand and experience similar problems. Thank you for doing this survey and trying to help everyone.

Took survey for parents of kids with allergies. Maybe include an age question to make answers more relevant. My child is 4 so a lot of the end questions won’t be applicable for a couple of years.
Thanks for what you are doing.

Thank you Lianne! I tell you, the hardest part is keeping my lips together and not saying a word and letting him have his discovery!
He was sooooo happy tonight. He announced that he had over 1,100 responses and he is going to dig into them soon.
I’m very grateful to everyone who is being supportive and those who have been advising him.
