Stock Epinephrine Saved Child's Life at School

You are here: Home / Advocacy / Stock Epinephrine Saved Child's Life at School

February 25, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 6 Comments

Tears of joy this morning in Nevada!  “EpiPen® Saving Lives on Campus”, news story broke yesterday.  Mandated stock epinephrine  law was called to action when a student, experiencing their first time reaction at school, had difficulty breathing after being exposed to an ingredient during a cooking class.  Stock epinephrine was immediately administered before being transported to the hospital.  The media is scheduled to speak to the family soon.   I’m celebrating several items right now:
SB453 Governor signing
stock epinephrine being signed into law in June 2013

  • A child’s life was saved
  • A parent is hugging their child today
  • The hard work of parents and volunteers paid off
  • The Nevada Legislature did their job well
  • Washoe County School District was trained and prepared
  • A child’s life was saved thanks to stock epinephrine (I can’t stop saying that)
  • Thank you KTVN for your reporting, “EpiPen® Saving Lives on Campus”,
  • Mylan offering free EpiPens® to schools made a life saving difference
  • Last but not least, if it wasn’t for Senator Debbie Smith leading the charge this story might have had a different ending

I’m raising my glass of soy milk this morning and then some Prosecco this evening!  Bravo Nevada for saving a child’s life at school thanks to mandated stock epinephrine!  JOB WELL DONE!

Agreed!!!! And Caroline, you were the one who really got people to listen and help and our wonderful Nevada lawmakers to support this important issue. Bravo!!!! Ya might as well put the Prosecco in the Soy Milk – start celebrating early!! Can’t say enough about the well-trained Washoe County school employees who took the proper action.
