I’m going off topic today: What is your favorite high school graduation gift? My favorite has been a plaque with the student’s name on it, but I know too many high school seniors graduating this year and don’t want to duplicate gifts. I’m at a loss!?! All of these kids are college bound, extremely bright and heading out of state. Ideas? I’m just stumped. I’ve done cool pen sets, but then learned they didn’t want to loose them, so they left them at home. They like the name plaque, but some of these kids know each other, so the gift won’t feel unique. None are food allergic kids. I was thinking about travel items for when they return home for a visit?

I’m just flat out stumped and the celebrations begin this weekend! Please add you ideas below! My creative juices are juiced out. What has happened to me? Too much sun this weekend I think.
If I use your idea, I’ll make you a personalized set of wine charms.
p.s. I love any excuse to make wine charms

These are my thoughts-
1) Tasterie subscription
2) Gas gift cards (so they are encouraged to come and see you) http://www.gifts.com/product/visa-graduation-level-complete?prodID=586514
3) A homemade book of coupons (good for 1 box of your favorite goodies, good for a free homecooked meal, etc) OR more personal like this – http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/what-i-wish-for-you-by-me-book?utm_medium=shopping+sites&utm_source=gifts&utm_campaign=24977
4) This book with a personal note inside – http://www.gifts.com/product/soulful-advice-for-studying-socializing-and-everything?prodID=404522
Remember, it should not always be about food allergies, just love 🙂

Hi Caroline,
I really love the book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go…” by Dr. Seuss accompanied by some cash of a gift card for late night food runs.
If you want to personalize, maybe a book that made an impact on you at that age with an inscription?? I still have a few books that were given to me at that age from important people in my life. “The Prophet”, “Gifts from the Sea”, to name a few…
I also like your travel idea…maybe a nice “weekender” tote/duffle bag for the trips back and forth.
Caroline
Gina,
These are really great ideas!! Even an overnight bag with a book in it. I like the book idea. Most of these kids are readers anyway, so it would nice to have some summer reading. Yay for new ideas. I’m just dying here with lack of good ideas.

I graduated a year early so my friends made me a box that they decorated saying “college survival kit” and it had travel sizes of things in it. My mom gave me sixteen Susan B. Anthony coins on my sixteenth birthday and I think for a graduating young lady maybe something like that. And you can’t go wrong with a lovely pen, Lamy makes one that is on jetpens.com that comes in a lovely gift case. It writes like a dream and comes in a few colors:

Homa,
You know I’m going to end up buying myself pens–my weakness! GREAT suggestions too. The travel size things is a really fun idea.
thank you!

What about wireless/waterproof speakers for their smartphone on the go. I also recently saw this…
http://www.amazon.com/Speaker-Loudspeaker-Amplifier-Silicone-Iphone/dp/B0053N2296/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
it’s an iphone megaphone… no batteries required.
I like giving key chains… really nice ones, with engraved with their initials or some quote that I choose for them. I have also given small boxes (glass or wood) with engraved quotes. I have a particular love of Tiffany and have found key chains and glass boxes there that I have loved giving. Plus the little Tiffany box is always a nice surprise! And the price point of these little items are not too bad!

Anything in a blue box is loved! Okay, a Tiffany box! GREAT suggestions–especially the key chain engraved. Thank you!

I really like the speaker–that’s funny and cute!
