Nominate Someone for a Trailblazer Award!

You are here: Home / Current Blog Post / Nominate Someone for a Trailblazer Award!

February 2, 2015 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 1 Comment

trailblazer awards Flowers for Anaphylaxis™, an all volunteer grassroots outreach effort offering condolences to families who have lost loved ones to food induced anaphylaxis announced yesterday two awards will be given to individuals who work to educate communities about the severity of life threatening food allergies in hope of ending further tragedies. Nominate someone who you believe is saving lives through their fight to educate, outreach and advocate regarding life threatening allergies.  Aleasa Word, food allergy coach and founder of Flowers for Anaphylaxis is a trailblazer herself in regards to her creation of Love Remembers Day and the Trailblazers Awards.  Here are the two awards being offered….

The Legacy Award will be presented to a loved one of someone lost to food allergies and continues to fight and educate others in their honor.

The Advocate Award will be presented to an advocate, leader or care giver who have gone above and beyond in the areas of education, outreach and advocacy in the food allergy community.

The awards will be part of multiple events taking place during the second annual WorldWide Love Remembers Day, set for the last weekend in March, 2015. Nominations for this award will be accepted from February 1st – 28th, 2015 and the winners will be announced on March 20th, 2015.

I am very biased towards Love Remembers Day for two reasons:

  1. I serve on the Love Remembers Day Committee
  2. I write, eyes full of tears, about many of the food allergy deaths, since I’m seriously committed to ensuring that every death is honored and respected.  Their stories save lives.  Their stories get laws passed.  Their lives shorten by anaphylaxis should never be in vain.  Every time I advocate on a policy level (school, state, etc), I say prayers for all the children who have passed and promise them that I’ll do my best in their honor.  Their deaths and lives are important.
  3. Okay, I lied, there is a third reason: their families need to be honored too.  I am humbled by the courage and strength of parents, partners and spouses who push forward to share their stories in hopes of saving the lives our families.  These people are super human in my eyes.

Will you consider nominating those who inspire you, make a difference and who too, should be honored as we honor and remember those whose lives were lost to anaphylaxis?
Please share these links with others to help us spread the word about Love Remembers Day and the Trailblazer Awards!
Happy Monday!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
