My EpiPlan App Tracks and Teaches

You are here: Home / Educaton / My EpiPlan App Tracks and Teaches

March 20, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 4 Comments

Mylan, the makers of EpiPen® just released a new, free App: My EpiPlan™  that allows you manage your EpiPens® and learn more about managing life threatening allergies. I was able to input data about each EpiPen®–including the location of the device.  I’m not a big users of Apps (I know, I know), but this feature piqued my interest. I have two children with life threatening food allergies with ten epinephrine auto-injectors to track at all times.  There were tips and articles including two good solid common sense pieces about Air Travel and Dining out.  The App, truly does take you through some of the basic and important elements of managing life threatening allergies.  Basically, the App, available on iTunes and Google Play offers…

  • How to use education–including a video.  I believe this will be helpful for on the spot, last-minute training or for reminders.
  • Learning.  Anaphylaxis basics and tips are offered along with valid, common sense articles.
  • Tracking.  I found the ability to list all our EpiPens® expiration dates along with their locations very helpful.  I was also able to create profiles for each of my children.
  • Contact.  Emergency contact information can be input for  easy access during an emergency.

I did run into a problem when I was attempting to set up my children’s profiles.  It was a user error, the tech walked through each step with me until I was able to enter the data that I needed, all without making me feel like a fool.  Again, I’m not a big App person, but I found this App to be worthy of a place on my smart phone!

Bravo Mylan on the new Free My EpiPlan™ App–it looks darn useful.

Auvi-Q has a great app as well. I like the feature that links to your contacts in case of an emergency.
