Milk Challenge Results…

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Milk Challenge Results…

July 14, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 14 Comments

Wahoo!!  He passed his dairy oral food allergy challenge!  My son has just scratched life threatening dairy allergy off of his list! I wasn’t sure as to why I unglue when someone mentions the words Food Challenge.  Then I was lucky enough to spend a few brief hours with  Connie Green yesterday, who put it all in perspective: It’s the emotional impact of avoiding something for years and now the release.  She hit it on the head!  I’ve spent almost 14 years making these adjustments… which I know you have done too!

  • Avoiding play dates during the early years to bypass the universal milk drool that covers most toddler clothing.
  • Learning (and eventually loving—the silver lining) how to bake and cook dairy free.
  • Saying to school ice cream socials–to dangerous and nerve racking.
  • Not eating at certain restaurants do to dairy cross contact issues.
  • Worrying about friends and family forgeting to use our soy spread and using butter (I’ve intervened many times on this topic).
  • Enduring endless moments of exclusion due to dairy products only be offered.

Nevertheless, we are always grateful and thankful for each allergen that drops off our list.  We are also thankful for all the foods my kids can eat  and for all the support we enjoy.  Currently, this afternoon, my son is talking about how this is the best birthday present any one can receive (his birthday is this week).  He is just flying high!
Thank you everyone who sent good joo-joo!  I’m posting from my iPad, so I apologize for the lack of photos!

We are quite excited. He is anxious to try milk chocolate. Although, my guess is that he’ll find it too rich. But what a great problem to have!
