Jerome Bettis: Slick Food Allergy Dating Tips

You are here: Home / Current Blog Post / Jerome Bettis: Slick Food Allergy Dating Tips

May 1, 2015 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 2 Comments

Jerome BettisFood Allergy Dating TipsTime to sound smooth and sophisticated as you slide into the dating conversation that you have food allergies!?  It doesn’t get any better than receiving dating advice from Jerome “The Bus” Bettis?  While interviewing Jerome Bettis a while back, I asked him for dating tips for my teenage son, Cyrus (I know, can I embarrass him any more?).  Jerome breaks down how to sound effortless and confident when asking out a girl while mentioning your food allergies.
The images aren’t the best, but the words are WISE and PERFECT!

I also interviewed Laurel Francouer, Esq., co-owner of Green Laurel Documents and co-author of Preschool Food Allergy Handbook – she is a 504 school plan maven!

Of course, you can use Jerome’s words of wisdom on any gender.  I’m sure Cyrus is going to be horrified today when someone finally tells him what I posted, but until then, I thought this post was a good idea.
Being a teenager is a tough time of life.  Being a teenager with life threatening food allergies is even harder!  It adds a whole new dimension to youth and dating.  I can’t imagine what it is like for our children and I’ve reached out to Allergic Girl, Sloane Miller for information on dating.  As a parent, teaching my son how to handle is food allergies is my priority and that includes the kissing conversation.  Sloane was a wealth of knowledge in this department! My local support group even hosted a live Skype session with her to discuss the teen years and dating.  Thanks to Jerome and Sloane, there are some good resources for our youth to explore.

Thank you Jerome Bettis for your food allergy advocating and for sharing  your dating tips!

My son will not be happy with me today, but it’s worth it!  I figure I’m just making the thought of leaving home for college sound better and better every day!

Please share below in the comments any dating tips you or your children might have to share with the rest of us!

This is an interesting article. I hadn’t even thought about my food allergies getting in the way of my dating life. I guess that’s why it would be a good idea to see an allergy doctor about my allergies to see if I can be cured of any of them. Let’s just hope that I can be!

      Hi Mia,
Yes, it would be very worth visiting your physician to check out if you can knock an allergen off the list. My son has outgrown many of his allergens already!
