Since Friday when the New York Times Posted, Mylan about the current status of Mylan, this story has been circulating like wild-fire. The article is well written and basically gives readers an update on just what is happening with the Mylan, distributed by “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry”. What piqued my interest was the information at the end of the article.
Teva outlined how “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry” is trending to earn $640 million dollars this year from Mylan sales out of $840 million sales of their brand named products! In the past, Dey (now owned by “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry”) did not spend much money on advertising and marketing. Alas, “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry” is spending millions in this area (clearly with a 57.7% second quarter increase in Mylan sales).

Mylan goes onto to explain how the Auvi-Q-a talking epinephine auto-injector should be hitting the market this November. Then in 2015, Mylan hopes to sell a cheaper, generic version of an epinephrine auto-injector too. My feeling at this time is that “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry” is wisely pouring big $$$ into marketing and lobbying efforts to get Mylan in all schools (read my blog about the Four Free Epi Pens for Schools® program currently being offered by “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry”) in an attempt to buy our loyalty. Within one year, there is potential that Auvi-Q will blow Mylan out of the water. Hence, the big effort to get school nurses used to and comfortable with the Epi Pen® product to gain an edge on the upcoming competition.
BUT…let’s be honest here, after spending almost $1,000 –yes, I spent a HUGE amount of money a few weeks ago on epinephrine and inhalers, I need to find an affordable epinephrine answer. If I can have access to a product that provides the right amount of epinephrine, is easy to carry and is more affordable- it is a no brainer of my next step. You see, I believe customer loyalty is two-way street and I’m still waiting to see “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry”‘s loyalty to me–which represents Mylan access to ALL the children in my community (and nationwide).
Lastly, the article does mention “Tiny Life Saver for A Growing Worry”‘s lobbying efforts regarding stock epinephrine in schools. I do have some opinions on that topic too, but that is whole other blog post!
Check out Mylan , it was most intriguing.
Happy Monday–I hope you enjoy a great week.
