Honoring our Veterans Today and Always

You are here: Home / Advocacy / Honoring our Veterans Today and Always

November 11, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi Leave a Comment

Even though we take one day out of the year to honor Veteran’s Day, I make it a point to always constantly appreciate the men and women who serve our nation.  It’s not easy to move around the world or country and find your self is situations that would leave the rest of in crying in our soy milk.  In honor of Veteran’s Day, I’m donating the Food Allergy Walk Page of Duane Gordin, United States Air Force Veteran and food allergy dad extraordinaire, who is attempting to run a marathon in just under 4 hours.  Duane’s goal is  to raise funds for food allergy awareness AND he runs in honor of his food allergic son and all children with food allergies.  During each mile he runs, he keeps a one specific child in mind and runs for them.  I invite you to honor retired Lt. Colonel Duane Gordin and is past service to our country and our food allergic children.  I am honoring him by donating to his food allergy efforts.

Duane still has five more ” Motivation slots available” to run in honor of children with food allergies.  Consider at donation in honor of someone you love with food allergies and Duane will keep them in his mind and heart as he runs that mile. Duane and his wife are the Las Vegas Food Allergy Walk Chairs and have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in addition to bringing much-needed education programs to Las Vegas.  The Gordin family has made a difference in saving lives and I am honored to support Duane!  Duane has presented to hundreds of educators, testified in support of SB453 (stock epinephrine in schools), has chaired the Las Vegas Food Allergy Walk for four years in a row and has led many volunteers into producing one the best food allergy walks in the nation.

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful Veteran’s Day and continue to honor and support those who selflessly serve our country.

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
