Think of something you enjoy doing or someone you love spending time with that stresses you out to no end regarding food allergies this holiday season. Now, here is the actual challenge: honestly ponder why this activity or person stresses you out and then create one step you will take to help make it better. Next, determine how you will take the step to make a successful reality. Think in terms of steps–not fixing the situation 100%, sometimes our food allergy world requires a slow and steady approach, remember ‘Rome was not built in a day’! For example….
My Holiday Stress:
- Cross contact with allergens during cooking at my sister in-law’s house.
One step I can take towards resolving this issue that will reduce my stress:
- Cook a dish or two that my children can eat safely that makes them feel included.
How to make this step successful and stress-free:
- Use a Classic Roaster Oven to cook two dishes! I actually plug it in on her back porch since all you need is an outlet.
Even though this is just one step, it’s a big one that reduced my stress ten fold a few years ago. It’s my go to solution! I now use a roasting oven during the summer and cook food outside in our patio and I often pop it up on my counter and cook dishes just to add some warmth to the kitchen and moisture to my foods.
What is your challenge going to be this year? Please share the one step you might just take!
p.s. Here is an example of the Nesco Roasting Oven. Mine has convection–which is basically a fan and I hardly use it, so my next purchase will be a more affordable oven like the one below (I paid about double for the fan).
