Get the Food Allergy Awareness FAACT'S

You are here: Home / Advocacy / Get the Food Allergy Awareness FAACT'S

May 8, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi

Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW) is right around the corner, and I am discovering that the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Connection Team (FAACT) offers a list of suggestions that any one of us can easily accomplish to get the word out about food allergies! I confess to doing absolutely nothing during FAAW sometimes simply because time was not on my side. Thankfully, FAACT has impactful ideas that don’t need to require large amounts of time. I am impressed with their suggestion of educating ourselves…so that we can become better advocates! FAACT also provides downloadable materials for our convenience-they are making FAAW very convenient I must say!

Follow this link to FAAW on FAACT’s Web site for great tips that resonate with me and info on how to do the following (just a few ideas):

  • Download a FAACT informational flyer and share it with your community
  • Download and share information about the various FAACT Food Allergy Conferences around the country (Anaheim, Atlanta, Denver, and Philadelphia), including FAACT’s Conference Schedule and Flyer
  • Request educational bookmarks from FAACT
  • Follow FAACT on Facebook and Twitter and share their FAAW posts and tweets – they will post a “FAACT” each day
  • Use  social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, etc.) to talk about food allergies and anaphylaxis
  • Send a press release or write a blog post about FAAW
  •  Educate your school with a food allergy test that you can download
  • Download and share information from FAACT’s Education Resource Center for parents and school professionals within your school community

Simply put: Even if time is not your friend next week, there is something each of us can do that will only take minutes!
It’s important to stand out, stand tall with grace and intelligence, and educate ourselves and others with facts and information regarding managing food allergies within our communities.
Bravo to FAACT, an important emerging leader in our food allergy world, for providing pathways for food allergy and anaphylaxis education and advocacy during Food Allergy Awareness Month! Many of us have joined the the FAACT family today to support education and advocacy efforts for our food allergy community-join us?

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
