Get Balance Wednesdays: Breathing exercises!

You are here: Home / Uncategorized / Get Balance Wednesdays: Breathing exercises!

June 20, 2012 By //  by Caroline Moassessi Leave a Comment

Last week, my Get Balance Wednesdays: Breathe blog was about taking time to learn a short breathing technique from Dr. Weil’s website and simply stopping to re-inspire, rejuvenate and re-invigorate myself.  I enjoyed the exercise and agreed that it brought focus and some calmness too.  Today’s hour break is about my cup of tea and trying out of Dr. Weil’s  THREE BREATHING EXERCISES.  I’m truly enjoying and have been looking forward to my scheduled rejuvenation time each week.

I feel as if I am receiving a freebie card to do nothing productive for anyone but myself.  I think as mothers we far too often put our own well-being on the back burner forgetting that if we fry out our families who rely on us will no longer have us front and center!  Two years ago when my daughter had walking pneumonia the pediatrician asked, “how are you sleeping?”  I looked at him puzzled, “why was he asking about me, my daughter is the sick one,” I thought.  Then he explained that I can’t be an effective care giver if I’m not sleeping well.  Aha, he was right!
I bought Dr. Weil’s CD, “Breathing”  a couple of years ago and basically lost it until I was recently doing some spring cleaning.  I’ve always been very curious about his discussions on how using certain breathing techniques can influence health.  Now is the time to finally check out this theory.
Today’s exploration items are Dr. Weil’s Three Breathing Exercises…
[ordered_list style=”decimal”]

  1. Stimulated breathing-this is suppose to invigorate me.
  2. Relax Breath-this one is going to provide a “natural tranquilizer” for my nervous system-otherwise known as relaxing!
  3. Counting Breath- is going to be a challenge.  I believe that I tried this one many years ago, but kept falling asleep during it (clearly, I failed)
[/ordered_list] After I have experimented with these breathing exercises, I’m going to finish up the hour with a nice magazine from my large stack begging to be read.

I hope you will enjoy a beautiful hour of personal rejuvenation and time spent on your spirit-Caroline
