I am pathetically biased once again! I can’t help myself. I love good art and almost anything local and Kanna’s art work covers both quite nicely! If you’re in a last-minute gift crunch and live in the San Francisco Bay Area or can live with overnight shipping, then check out Kanna Aoki’s art work! She is local to the San Fransisco Bay Area–East Bay to be exact and she paints life in Bay Area and California. Her work makes me smile as I remember old favorite haunting grounds and the beauty of California.
What strikes and inspires me is that the things Kanna paints are exactly the things I used to enjoy when I lived in California (I grew up in the Bay Area and went to high school together) in uplifting colors and energy. She has a painting depicting a piece of freeway that I just love and now that says a lot–who enjoys a freeway maze? Apparently, I do. That’s my point-she can make a freeway maze interesting! Seriously, Kanna’s work can be found on Pottery Barn plates and underwear (think Joe Boxer). She left the commercial art world to raise her boys and yes, she is learning how to bake gluten-free too!
Right now, you check her out….
