Food Allergy Hall of Fame

You are here: Home / Food Allergy Lifestyle / Food Allergy Hall of Fame

Instead of folding laundry, mysteriously I found myself on Severe Allergy Awareness Page.visiting Celebrate Someone. (Sanofi are the folks behind the new Hall of Fame App).  It was so interesting that I made myself a cup of tea, sliced some apples, added a dollop of Facebook ® and settled in for a while.   The Celebrate Someone App is an interesting pathway to give respect and honor someone who has made a difference in our allergy and anaphylaxis world.   Creating an award for them while generating a $5 donation (from Sanofi US) that will be shared amongst three leading patient advocacy groups.  I decided to try out this Treatment Discussion and I nominated three people to see what how it all worked.  Not only did I get have fun, but found it interesting to read about the other folks who received Hall of Fame awards .  Here is how it works…

  • Visit the Facebook
  • Under the Facebook page’s header click on the box Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA)
  • You’ll then link into the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and can begin enjoying the awards or nominate someone.
  • If you hover your cursor over the award, there will be a pop-up message written by the award nominator.
  • There are all sorts of categories, such as vigilant moms or dads, community, schools and even research!
  • To nominate someone, simply click on the blue Give an Award Button.
  • Complete the short form and type in why you nominated that person-that’s the fun part, but you only get 200 characters, so plan ahead.

It was fun to read about the folks who were nominated and even more fun was recognizing people that I admire!  I won’t say who I nominated since I want them to be surprised today.  I believe it could take up to 24 hours for an award to appear.  The Severe Allergy Awareness Page.site doesn’t end withSevere Allergy Awareness Page., there is a link to another area for Treatment Discussion and general Facebook wall chatter.  The three charities that will split a $5 donation received in the name of your Severe Allergy Awareness Award are the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).Update as of 3/18/13: now that my nominees have seen their nominations…

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
