Food Allergy Mama Battles Cancer with Spunk!

You are here: Home / Uncategorized / Food Allergy Mama Battles Cancer with Spunk!

April 9, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 2 Comments

Spunk is putting it lightly!  Emily Fay Reese is a single parent of three, and a food allergy mama who was with our Northern Nevada Asthma and Food Allergy Parent Education Group (AAPE) since the early days.  Her now ex-husband (and all around great guy), Devon, helped testify to secure the right for students to carry epinephrine and asthma inhalers on campus in Nevada.  These days, Emily is busy chasing off Colon Cancer’s second visit her to body.  If you follow her on facebook, you’ll be humbled and insanely inspired by what she writes in gratitude.  She blows my mind and she needs our help  right now.
Note: the top image is a chemo treatment selfie!

Chemo has forced her stopped working and folks have pulled together a Go Fund Me Fundraiser to raise money to keep her family moving forward until she can return back to work.  Our food allergy community is so full of love and compassion that I felt it was important to share the Emily Fay Reese Go Fund Me fundraiser with you.  Her spirit is infectious and her work in the community has not slowed down due to cancer.  I don’t know how she does it, but she does.  Last month, friends held a “Wig Out” fundraiser complete with a live band, raffle and of course…wigs!  Loss of hair has only inspired Emily to have some fun with wigs.

If you are inspired to donate or share Emily’s Fundraiser with others, please do!  Or…prayers, a good joo-joo dance and well wishes are greatly appreciated.

Happy Wednesday!

Caroline and All Who Read This Post:
The memories of that early time in my daughter’s life of dealing with her deadly allergy to peanuts and our role in getting her protected in school are fond ones. I am so happy that I was able to meet people like you, Caroline, and many others. My life is blessed… BECAUSE of cancer. Thanks to all of you who feel compelled to give. My Three Little Birds and I are surrounded by love and support, and I love that my kids get to experience an outpouring of love by people we know and DON’T know. It is teaching them to love others and live with compassion and empathy.
Much love, Caroline, and thank you for spreading the word about the needs we have.
Live Life, Love Life, Impact Others,
    Emily Reese
