Food Allergy Life is Hard!

You are here: Home / Current Blog Post / Food Allergy Life is Hard!

October 5, 2015 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 6 Comments

Food Allergy FriendshipsManaging an invisible disease that can kill at any moment, that affects a community beyond the patient and still has no absolute testing, cure or therapy is just brutal.  When you look up the term life threatening food allergy there should be a reference using words like confusing, frustrating, etc.  I’m not whining today since millions successfully manage their challenges beautifully each and every day.  Instead…
Today, I plan on…

  • pausing and savoring the friendships born out of this disease
  • sending good thoughts to friends who are there to talk me off of the ledge
  • feeling grateful for those who share recipes, tips and tricks
  • toasting my soy latte to those who care enough to encourage my family, even though we have not met face-to-face…yet
  • sending good thoughts and wishes to food allergy friends who make my life a better place

Who has made your life better?  When was the last time you said, “hey thanks for being there,”  maybe give them a little shout out today?

Happy Monday and thank you for making my life a better place!

A BIG thank you for my new in-person friend Caroline! I’m very grateful to have met her, to have learned pearls of wisdom from her marvelous presentation this past weekend and knowing that we will be there for one another moving forward.
I’m grateful for the happiness in my life and the difficult miles that I have travelled…for every mile I have walked has provided me with knowledge — the gift I now give others.
    Have a great day Caroline! : )

Thank you to people who take food allergies seriously! We had a mix-up at a wedding last weekend, but one of the caterers helped make everything all right. She told me she’d just taken a class on food allergies and knew how serious they were.

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
