This Part I of a two part series about a new Anaphylaxis Initiative. Why two parts? I predict that the What is Your AQ online quiz will require more discussion about how it might be one of the most important Anaphylaxis education tools created AND I have the honor today of interviewing football great Jerome Bettis and food allergy advocate, lawyer, speaker and patient advocate Laurel Francouer to learn more about this initiative. My gut and brain are telling me that this 10 question quiz will be hailed as critical anaphylaxis education tool since it is impressively rich with questions that teach us to avoid life changing mistakes. Today, Jerome and Laurel help launch this initiative to the nation, during food allergy awareness week, in partnership with Sanofi, the makers of Auvi-Q®and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA).

Yesterday, Sanofi, announced the launch of the What is Your AQ, or Anaphylaxis Quotent, quiz as they joined forces again with Jerome Bettis, who is also allergic to shell fish. I believe one goal of this quiz is to clear up many of the misconceptions both our food allergy and general communities embrace as fact regarding the management of anaphylaxis and life threatening food allergies. Let’s get honest here, these misconceptions are what’s killing us here—literary. Fatal mistakes are made not due to someone trying to harm another, but for lack of important information and knowledge.
I predict, if used widely, the What is Your AQ will save lives. I’m convinced. I’m anxious to enjoy my interview today with Jermone Bettis and Laurel Francouer- I have several questions about this quiz, anaphylaxis and what does this initiative embrace and hope to fully accomplish.
