Call the President today; Ask for Less Car Pollution

You are here: Home / Asthma - News / Call the President today; Ask for Less Car Pollution

March 6, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi Leave a Comment

Today, March 6th, 2013  is National Call In Day-Healthy Air  Join me, thousands of Americans and the American Lung Association in  making a fast call to the President and tell him you want standards that will cut air pollution from cars and light trucks.  One important way to secure clean air is to start with our millions of cars on the road each day.   It’s not a nice to have, but a gotta have.  Let’s face it, so many diseases are directly connected to poor air quality, pollution and smoking.  In addition to eating well, sleeping well we also need the  most basic element: uncontaminated air.

dialing number on cell phone

Consider a call today or by Friday since a big winter storm is expected to hit Washington, D.C., so the government might be closed.

Here are some talking points and how to’s:

  • The White House Comment line number is:  202-456-1111
  • Consider saying, “My name is (insert your name) and I’m call from (insert your city and state).  I am calling to urge the President to move forward with stronger gasoline and vehicle standards.  Cars and light trucks are still a major source of smog and particle pollution that make us sick”.
  • If you are comfortable, share your own personal story of asthma or lung disease and how car exhaust impacts your breathing.
  • If you can’t get through, you can always sign up for an Action Alert and send an email this way too!
  • Please share with your family and friends.  The more calls send a clear message to the President of what the people of America need.

be the changeThis hangs in my son’s room and it one of my favorite sayings.

Thanks for working towards helping us all reduce disease and illness by joining  the American Lung Association’s National Call In Day!

p.s. In case you didn’t know, I am a passionate American Lung Association Volunteer!
