Anaphylaxis Webinar Tomorrow School Nurse Partner

You are here: Home / EPI / Anaphylaxis Webinar Tomorrow School Nurse Partner

July 29, 2013 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 1 Comment

It’s last minute, but if you have time then you might want to check out tomorrow’s  FREE Webinar, “Partnering with Your School Nurse for a Safe School Year”.   The focus of this webinar will cover managing life threatening allergies  and anaphylaxis at school and how to partner with school nurse.  Let’s face it, the school nurse is one of our major allies!   Kids with Food Allergies (KFA)-a Division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America is sponsoring this online education moment!  School Nurse guru, Sally Schoessler,  Ed, BSN, RN, is Director of Nursing Education at the National Association of School Nurses (NASN).  If you recall, over the last week or so I’ve blogged a few times now about the incredibly valuable resources from the NASN regarding the management of anaphylaxis in the school setting.  Her experience covers over 20 years of managing students dealing with anaphylaxis in both public and private schools.  I think it is safe to say, this might be an area of her strong expertise!

In the past, I’ve found the KFA webinars to be helpful and worth the time.  If there aren’t too many slides involved, you can fold laundry at the same time too!  Also presenting will be Dr. Michael Pistiner, a pediatric allergist who is the content creator for our beloved Allergy Home website!  As a result of participating in a few KFA webinars, I’m now a fan since I don’t need to drive anywhere or put on makeup all while receiving valuable information!

I am trying to make it to the webinar myself.  Just trying to move around some commitments! I just really enjoy learning along side KFA.

Managing life threatening allergies and anaphylaxis is not the easiest, but with education it is quite manageable!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
