Today we honor our fallen heroes, thank those who serve and feel the gratitude for our beautiful lives.
I have a hard time when I see signs stating, “Happy Memorial Day”. Is it suppose to be a happy day? To me, it is a day to reflect, be grateful and to love on your family.
I took my son to the Vietnam Memorial Wall when he was seven years old. It was at night and everything seemed to glow. As we walked along, the wall grew bigger and bigger, he began to cry. I asked him why he was crying and he said he didn’t know why. I knew why he cried. He experienced the magnitude of loss, pain and sacrifice. I was a proud Mama at this moment. To understand joy, we must understand sorrow.
Today I pause and pray for peace with a heart full of gratitude.
