100 Days to 1st "People's" Food Allergy Conf

You are here: Home / Educaton / 100 Days to 1st "People's" Food Allergy Conf

June 17, 2014 By //  by Caroline Moassessi 8 Comments

Finally!  We are exactly 100 days away from the second annual Food Allergy Blogger Conference (FABLOGCON), our nation’s first grassroots snd ONLY People’s food allergy conference and that is focused on Celebrating our Food Allergy Strong Community.  Created by parents of food allergic children and based upon what patients are asking for while offering a track for food allergy bloggers (this gets my personal big wahoo)!  I’m speaking at the FARE conference this weekend and couldn’t be any more thrilled, I’m ecstatic with FAACT’s teen offerings and multiple locations of conferences so that many can have access to vital information.  What stirs up my passion about FABLOGCON is that it was born at a little table in NYC over a fabulous dinner and wine while brainstorming how to bring our community of food allergy bloggers, and those who share information, with patients and parents who live daily with life threatening food allergies.  Okay, I confess that I was at that two person table with Jenny Sprague am deeply committed to her mission–can we say bias?  This is event combines information, passion, friendship and access to others like never before.
Fablogcon table beginning
I took a picture of the memorable table since I had a premonition great things would be launched from here!
Under one food allergy savvy roof (the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa does an incredible job in managing food allergies in their restaurants and with the conference), we will…

  • meet our favorite bloggers, speakers and authors while we drink wine or soda
  • learn about current therapies, EOE, Asthma and more  from nationally recognized and respected physicians
  • laugh until our stomachs hurt
  • enjoy 15 break out sessions
  • take photos with friends we’ve met on facebook and who will be face to face
  • find solutions to dealing with food labeling, 504 plans, nutrition and even allergen skin care
  • get a better understanding of SEO and blog legalities (that’s blog talk)
  • last but not least,  celebrate those who are part of our journey in our food allergy strong world

FABlogcon swag
Last year we all received two full bags of swag!  Pack lightly, your suitcase will be FILLED!
Since the last FABLOGCON event, the connections and collaborations made between participants has been stunning to say the least.  For me personally, I’ve now made friends on all coasts and Canada who I can call at any time to talk me off of the ledge.  I’ve made professional connections and we are now collaborating on important projects, I have new people to learn from and most of all, I feel part of our greater community and that means everything to me.

Therefore, will you be joining us in September in Las Vegas for FABLOGCON?

      Heather,
I’m hoping you’ll see less of me! I’m now walking daily! We will truly enjoy an important moment in time: community, advocacy and education–all while eating safe foods!

Tools to consider for Eating Out

Eating out with Food Allergies can be quite challenging. For my family, we view eating out as a risk and we use a variety of tools to help us make educated choices.  Most importantly, if we get a gut feeling something isn’t right, we leave or my children don’t eat the item and we find safe options elsewhere...Eating out Tips - Know before you Go
